Assign a hydro generator or pumped hydro storage to a hydro plant

This example is valid for AC(O)PF scenarios.

1. Create a hydro plant

Once a network file is open in the SAInt project environment. A new hydro plant object can be created by right-clicking in the map window and selecting Electric Network (ENET)  Add New Hydro Plant to Electric Network from the context menu, as shown in Figure 1. Once the new hydro plant is created, the property editor will automatically be prompt and can be used to define the default properties of the fuel object.

The hydro plant object is not part of the electric network object structure. For this reason, in the map window the HYDP are not visualized under the electric layer.

2. Assign a hydro generator to a hydro plant

After creating and defining the properties of the hydro plant, the next step is to create a hydro generator or a pumped hydro storage and assign it to a hydro plant. Right-click on the node in the map window and access Add New External  Hydro Generator to select which hydro plant will be assigned to the new hydro generator as shown in Figure 2. Same process applies to pumped hydro storage, see Figure 3. In both cases, you can assign a previously created HYDP (e.g., HYDP_0) or create a new one. If no HYDP object was previously created, the only available option is Add New Hydro Plant. By selecting this option a new HYDP object is automatically created and assigned to the new external, either a HGEN or a PHSTR.

PGCOEFF and PDCOEFF must be higher than 0 for the pumped hydro storage to generate (discharge) or pump water (charge). Since these properties relate the power generated and consumed by the external with the water that is turbinated from and pumped to the reservoir.
